  • To lead and direct the Infrastructure function to ensure that the organization’s infrastructure is developed and maintained within prescribed time frames and budgets with the highest level of safety measures as per Company’s Culture and Strategy.
  • Contribute as a member of the Executive team to the overall management and direction of the company, to ensure that clear short, medium and longer term goals and objectives are established, communicated and achieved to optimize business results and returns to shareholders.
  • Develop and gain agreement to the strategy for the Infrastructure function in the context of the overall business strategy, communicate and oversee implementation of this to ensure strategic alignment of the function with the business.
  • Direct the overall preparation of the Infrastructure functional budget, approve and gain acceptance to these and monitor financial performance versus the budgets so that the function is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
  • Define an optimum organisation structure for the function overseen to ensure that work is optimally organized, resources are optimally utilized and communication can take place in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects in ensuring infrastructure projects are completed within prescribed timeframes and budgets.
  • Contribute in the development of project requests for proposal (RFPs) and to the evaluation of proposals from contractors/subcontractors.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the planning for and maintenance of all infrastructure across the network (track, buildings and structures).
  • Ensure that all contractors responsible for infrastructure maintenance on track, structures, buildings are selected as per company’s policies and execute their work as per the contract.
  • Direct the recruitment and development of senior functional staff and motivate personnel to ensure that all functions are staffed with individuals of the required caliber, and that there is adequate succession planning and provision for future demands.
  • Regular interactions with the CEO and other executive team members to report on performance of the areas managed, discuss issues of strategy and policy and undertake day to day top level decision making.
  • Regular interactions with reporting managers to receive reports and review performance of their functions provide policy guidance and address significant day to day operational issues.
  • As member of the senior management team the jobholder develops and maintains key external relationships to ensure the company is optimally positioned to achieve its business objectives.
